We are still here....

This week it finally stopped raining (not that I am complaining, the rain is nothing compared to the catastrophic weather in some parts of the country) so we have been doing a lot of outside activities. The sun is out and we are loving it!

We went to a fun birthday party for Alex's cousin.

 We visited Nana (Alex's Great Grandmother) in Maine.  Daddy and Alex took a spin on her lawn tractor. LOL

We went to the beach and played in the sand and some warm tide pools.

We also planted our vegetable garden. I can't wait till it starts growing. We planted string beans, cucumbers, bell peppers, carrots, spinach, lettuce, cantaloupe, pumpkins, zucchini and sunflowers :) Garden photos to come soon!

Unintentionally Alex and his cousin wore matching shirts to church. They were so cute. I am entering this photo in the Friends Photo Challenge at The Paper Mama.

Through The Viewfinder

For Mother's Day my wonderful husband and son bought me a vintage Ansco Rediflex camera. It is a simple twin lens box camera from the 1950's. Why would I want this? I have been interested in try some TTV Photography for quite a while. A quick definition of TTV Photography is a photo taken with your digital camera through the viewfinder of  a old camera. It acts as sort of filter. I have seen some very beautiful photos using this technique and was excited to give it a try. So here are a couple of my first TTV photos. I need to work on my "contraption." The "contraption" is something used to link the two cameras and block out any excess light. Right now I just have a crude piece of cardboard that is held together with some masking tape. I think will be this weekend's project. Anyway here is a few shots that I took.

Fun in the Garden

This morning we read A Garden of Opposites by Nancy Davis.

This is a simple book with great illustrations. It teaches basic opposite concepts and has a great gate-fold displaying the whole garden of opposites. Very cute. We enjoyed it, and it had some new opposites that Alex didn't know.

After reading the book we made a little flower garden of our own. We used construction paper, Do A Dot paints and cupcake liners. Alex painted the cupcake liners
 I had cut out "stems and leaves" out of construction paper. Alex glued them all on a piece of blue paper.
He added a yellow pom-pom to the center of the flowers and I guided him in making a short caterpillar and a long snake with his Do A Dots, just like in the book.

This afternoon we had a fun time playing outside. Alex searched for bugs. He "caught" a earth worm.

He decided to make a birdie after hearing a crow "cawing." He made it out of sticks. I was impressed. Maybe he has a future as a sculpture artist.

I Heart Faces {Soft and Sweet}

The theme over at I Heart Faces is soft and sweet. This is a old photo of Alex. This is his first Easter, he was 3 days shy of a month old and had just finally came home from the hospital. I recently came across it and decided to do some post processing. I think it fits the theme pretty well, what is more soft and sweet than a sleeping newborn wearing bunny ears.
