I Heart Faces {Autumn Splendor}

Its been a while since I entered a photo challenge. The theme over at I Heart Faces is Autumn Splendor. I took a bunch of cute photos of Alex playing in the beautiful leaves at the park, but this is my favorite. He's laying in the leaves with his arms spread wide. I love the contrast of the orange leaves and his blue shirt.

Thanksgivinig Activities

~Alex is 32 months~

So I decided to take a break for the alphabet so we could do some of the fun Thanksgiving activities I have seen in the blog world.

We read Five Silly Turkeys  by Salina Yoon

This is a cute little Thanksgiving counting book, it counts backward from five. Very similar to Ten Terrible Dinosaurs that we read the other week. 


We went for a walk even though it was gray and dismal outside. Woody HAD to come with us.

Woody climbed  a tree.

We made a hand print turkey. Alex put red, orange and yellow hand prints on a piece of paper. Then I cut out a circle and oval out of a brown paper bag for the body. I drew on the details and then we glued on some googly eyes. Then I cut out the turkey.

 Then Alex worked on sorting people and food from 1+1+1=1 Thanksgiving Preschool Pack

and we did some puzzles from Lawteedah's Thanksgiving Tot Kit

We haven't used our cardboard blocks for a while so I pulled them out and Alex had a great time building towers and then destroying them. 

and that was our day....

Tot School 1st Day

~Alex is currently 32 months~

I decided that we would concentrate on color identification.The only color that I know for sure he knows in red. Today's theme was Autumn Colors.

The Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert

This is a great book. We read it together and pointed out the different colors of the leaves.  I thought a craft that he would enjoy would be to make a fall tree using fingerprints. I cut out a tree trunk shape piece of paper and had him start to paint it brown while I cut out another round shape to use as the leaves.

He started out doing finger prints....

Then it was more fun to finger paint with all the colors.

"Look at my hand, Mommy!"

 Next we did a outside color scavenger hunt. I got this idea from No Time For Flash Card's Nature Match post.            

I used a egg carton and painted the colors in the bottom.

Then we went outside to see what we could find to match each color. Alex did pretty good, especially with red and purple.

Later in the afternoon I dumped everything out on the table and we matched our treasures with the colors again.

The last project of the day that Alex had very little interest in was a leaf collage from some leaves that we had collected and flattened in a phone book from last week. Mommy ended up doing most of it, but we hung it up in the window so we can name the colors later.
